“New casual cafe addition next door to the main River Café” that has a fairly uninspiring interior, but a beautiful sunny day terrace right by the Thames. Open from breakfast, you can now get a true taste of its world famous neighbour for a lower investment although true to the mothership’s DNA, this is “great food… just way overpriced”. Grab an early morning juice (£6) or bowl of olives (£6); lunch on pasta, risotti and other simple dishes for about £15-£20 per plate; finish with a Chocolate Nemesis or some other lovely cake for £10-12. Go easy on the vino though – the cheapest per bottle is £54!

Next door to its world famous parent, this summer 2024 debut – an unused part of the former architect’s practice with outside tables right by the Thames towpath – is an everyday spin-off from the mothership, aimed at capturing passers-by and foodie-anoraks who want to say they’ve had the Chocolate Nemesis without forking out for the whole shebang. Alongside coffee, it serves an all-day menu of filled brioche and bruschetta, salumi, cheeses and light bites, desserts and gelati.
