Breaking news

2022: the resturant appears to have changed its name from Pali Hill to Pahli Hill Bandra Bhai.

Harden's says

Rahul Khanna and Kabir Suri, the duo behind Azure Hospitality, have taken over the veteran Indian restaurant site that was home to Gaylord (RIP); in October 2020 (delayed from May by lockdown) they opened Pali Hill, a Indian seasonal restaurant, and also Bandra Bhai, a basement cocktail bar that's inspired by an illicit smuggling den.

“Authentic high-quality Indian food”, including some “inventive and interesting dishes”, are on the menu at the first London venture from New Delhi’s Azure Hospitality, on the former site of veteran curry house Gaylord (RIP) near Selfridges. Named after a smart Mumbai district and with the ‘Bandra Bhai’ cocktail bar downstairs, it’s definitely “worth remembering”. A chef’s counter – launched in summer 2023 – is a new addition.

This contemporary two-year-old near Selfridges (on the former site of Gaylord, RIP) is the first London venture from New Delhi-based Azure Hospitality, and serves an “intriguing” menu inspired by the posh Mumbai suburb it is named after. The kitchen uses high-quality British produce, including some “interesting veggies”, to produce cooking that’s “full of enjoyable flavours”. Meanwhile, down in ‘Bandra Bhai’, the basement ‘smugglers den’, you can find some “dangerously delicious cocktails!”.

Adopting the site near Selfridges of Indian veteran Gaylord (RIP), this October 2020 newcomer is the first London venture of Rahul Khanna and Kabir Suri: the duo behind New Delhi-based Azure Hospitality, one of India’s more successful hospitality businesses. It’s named for one of Mumbai’s poshest suburbs, whose foodie heritage is a mash-up based on communal living. Here that translates to swish, contemporary decor and an eclectic menu which early survey (and newspaper) reports consider “well spiced, interesting Indian food”. Below is Bandra Bhai, a basement cocktail bar inspired by an illicit smuggling den.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
