“Great food at a good price” continues to win acclaim for the Deptford branch of this Sichuanese duo, whose chilli-hot and numbing cuisine makes it one of SE8’s brighter culinary sparks. No feedback this year on its less noteworthy Goodge Street branch.
“If you can get over the location, the food is wonderful” say fans of this Chinese in “up-and-coming Deptford”, blessed this year with an admiring review of its fiery Sichuanese cooking by critic Jay Rayner. But while generally upbeat, reporters don’t go quite so overboard as The Observer’s man did (and the sole reporter who tried its Goodge Street sibling was least impressed of all: “I was looking forward to hot, numbing food but what came out was bland and under-seasoned, even if the staff were friendly and decor, etc was fine”).
