“A proper Italian restaurant, like being in Rome” – this stalwart between Olympia and Holland Park serves “consistently great food”, with an emphasis on “fresh fish and seafood”. A favourite of the late Michael Winner, it has fallen off the foodie radar in recent years but still scores highly, not least thanks to its “welcoming” and sympathetic staff.
“Lovely, authentic cuisine” (“pasta as it should be” and other “great, simple dishes”) and “an owner who goes out of his way to make sure you have a good time” is the recipe for longevity at this “slightly cramped” Italian stalwart on a side street near Olympia (a favourite of the late MIchael Winner). Fans feel “it deserves to be busier”.
“If you don’t have time to go to Italy...” this “very enjoyable and most-relaxed” stalwart local on a sidestreet near Olympia station will do the trick: “it really does feel the part”, the “food is superb and such good value for money”, and there’s a “great wine list”.
Lost in a side-street on the Kensington/Olympia border, Michael Winner’s favourite Italian (or it was) is rather forgotten nowadays, but fans still cross town for its “delightful” approach, not least “simple, flavoursome and unfussy” cooking that’s “always fantastic”. Top Menu Tip – “very successful” fish and seafood dishes.
