Harden's survey result
Summary
This “very buzzy and long established” Chinatown operation serves “excellent fresh classic dim sum and Cantonese favourites” in a “large” space with “traditional decor” (that more harsh reports characterise as “awful”). Despite the “sterile surroundings and matter-of-fact service, it’s full of Chinese diners, which suggests the food is what it’s all about”.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

New Loon Fung Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Food was good; nothing to really shout about- good home food. Tables were bear; we kept asking for condiments-service without a smile. Different people served you so no rapport built . We asked to remove the service charge- which was at 12.5% discretionary- the waiter then proceeded to say; if you didn’t pay the service charge then I will have to charge you for the tap water and lemon slice; you should have taken takeaway and not eat in etc; he kept raising his voice causing a scene. I said that the service is discretionary and I’m entitled to pay it not if you wanted the service charge don’t use the word discretionary. He then pointed me to restaurants across the road. We paid the £40 without service and left never to return."
