December 2017: Dean & DeLuca announced it no longer has plans to open a London site.

Harden's says

In the former heart-of-Mayfair premises of Allen’s the Butchers, this most chichi (end expensive!) of NYC lifestyle brands (a global business now, of which a chunk is still held by founder Giorgio DeLuca, who opened his first SoHo store in 1977) aims to storm the capital in November 2017. So many US brands founder on over-pricing when they hit London – perhaps having a British chairman (Charles Finch) will help them judge the market better than some of their peers.

survey result

For 25 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. This year diners have submitted over 60,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK.

Summary

In the former heart-of-Mayfair premises of Allen’s the Butchers, this most chichi (and expensive!) of NYC lifestyle brands (a global business now, of which a chunk is still held by founder Giorgio DeLuca, who opened his first SoHo store in 1977) aims to storm the capital in the second half of 2017. So many US businesses founder on overpricing when they hit London – perhaps having a British chairman (Charles Finch) will help them judge the market better than some of their peers.
