Set on the ultra-bougie Chelsea/Knightsbridge borders, this charismatic haunt is “a pub to go to eat rather than drink”, with white tablecloths and smart banquette seating; and “really buzzy”.

“Amusing locals and colourful regulars liven up the atmosphere” at this smart watering hole for the Chelsea set, where guests enjoy immaculate white tablecloths, “excellent, often entertaining service” and “perfectly fine gastropub food”.

“Just an icon” in Chelsea’s chichi Walton Street – this “pricey” but “lively and very nice upmarket gastropub” caters stylishly to a “mainly posh, middle-aged-plus clientele”.

This “friendly local” is as smart as its Walton Street regulars in a very soigné corner of Chelsea, providing “solid” service and “good food” – at prices that probably exclude it from the definition of a pub (it’s akin to a club for regulars).

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Exceptional food. The fish was hot when it arrived at the table yet perfectly cooked. The tiniest kitchen in London produces delicious food punching well above its weight. Excellent service and a fun atmosphere with many regulars on the pick up."
