survey result

Summary

“A good addition to the area, but standards can be a bit rough and ready” is a balanced view on this “nice, bright venue” in a super-cute enclave off Sloane Street that’s part of nearby luxury boutique hotel, 11 Cadogan Gardens. On most accounts, its “all-day menu is not too expensive for the area” making it a versatile choice for a meet-up in Chelsea; but there’s the odd ‘off’ report of meals “offering a masterclass of how not to do it”.

Summary

Just off Sloane Square in chichi Pavilion Road, this svelte new brasserie is run by swanky nearby boutique hotel 11 Cadogan Gardens (a stablemate of luxurious Cliveden House and Chewton Glen). It opened in May 2018, just as the survey was drawing to a close – no reports as yet on its all-day seasonal menu, but in this location, something is very wrong if it doesn’t become a hub for the Made in Chelsea crowd.

The chef

Adam England showed signs of culinary flair from a young age when he landed his first job at The Old Hall, Altrincham in south Manchester. He quickly progressed through the ranks to senior sous chef and after five years he joined the Dun Cow in Cheshire as Head Chef.

In September 2014, Adam moved to London in order to hone his skills at Tower Bridge Institution Le Pont de la Tour, under ex-Gavroche, executive chef Tom Cook. Adam once again progressed quickly from Sous Chef to Head Chef, before setting his sights on East London where he was appointed Executive Sous Chef at the boutique five-star South Place Hotel in December 2016.

His next challenge sees him head up the kitchen of Hans' Bar & Grill on Chelsea’s iconic Pavilion Road, where he will serve a modern British menu influenced by the skills he’s learnt in kitchens across the country.

"Situated on the newly done and wonderful Pavillion Road in Chelsea. A winner in Chelsea, wonderful easy food, good service and charming street. Will go back again and again, especially for a Saturday lunch."

"Awful food and terrible service. Floor staff couldn’t decide where to seat our party of 2 in a nearly empty restaurant for dinner, the risotto was grey sludge with no hint of the promised truffle (not even the fake stuff from a bottle) and the chef couldn’t figure out how to make the first dessert listed on the menu. For a masterclass in how not to do a London restaurant, look no further."
