Harden's survey result
Summary
“Everything you would wish to find in a Bombay railway dining car!” – this popular Putney Indian is “great on all levels” and “puts its more expensive and ‘fashionable’ central London competitors in their place”.
Summary
“A non-typical local Indian restaurant serving Putney with high-quality, authentic Indian food” – in “huge, freshly cooked, super-tasty portions and with interesting sundries”. The “railway carriage theme is a bit of a stretch” for some, but “the food quality and quick service make it worth a detour”.
Summary
This “great little local” in Putney “bills itself as an Indian railway kitchen and leans into the theme very nicely – the decor feels like an old-school carriage, and much of the menu is based on genuine street food, taken up a notch”. It’s certainly “not your standard curry house”, and the “fresh, flavourful dishes are full of individual tastes”. “It can be tricky to get a table if you don’t book ahead, but once you’re in, service is attentive”.
Summary
“Generous portions of super-delicious food” – “the sort you would expect to find in India rather than Britain” – has won local acclaim for this three-year-old on the edge of Putney, with a luxury train theme linking cuisines from across the subcontinent.
For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Chook Chook Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Had lunch here with a friend. Had some chaats for starters which were excellent as were the chutneys accompanying them. Had to wait rather a long time between the starters and the mains which was a bit surprising as the restaurant was not full - although they were doing takeaways which may have contributed to this. The mains were OK but we were both a bit disappointed with our choices. The tandoori chicken was not as spicy as expected and the fish curry did not taste of coconut as promised. "
"Good reliable local addition to the Indian restaurant scene, really good veggie options"
