This “reliable Sardinian restaurant” is the meat specialist in Maura Sanna’s Belgravia group, serving several cuts of beef along with ‘porceddu’ (slow-roasted suckling pig) and “some really good Italian and Sardinian wines”. The décor is a modern take on Sardinian folk imagery, and there’s a heated terrace where you can enjoy a Havana cigar from the in-house collection.

The meat specialist in Mauro Sanna’s upscale (read “pricey”) Sardinian group scattered across Belgravia celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. Its steaks and Sardinian-style slow-roast suckling pig are “excellent”, while its red-blooded clientele have access to Joe’s, the in-house members’ bar, and to a heated terrace to enjoy a post-prandial cigar.

“Excellent meat” puts the ‘carne’ into this accomplished Belgravian – part of Mauro Sanna’s group of upmarket Sardinian locals – which shares the “original” cooking and “special and varied wines” of its siblings. Its austere but zany minimalist decor lacks charge but is certainly ‘different’.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
