Harden's survey result
“Some of the best pizza in town” – “with really delicious, springy crusts and interesting flavour combinations” – is the big tick at Jason Atherton’s take on New York Italian dining in Victoria’s Nova development. But even some who say “the food is great” say “it’s let down by below-par ambience and service: one for the lunchtime crowd”.
“It’s pizza, Jim, but not as we know it...” say fans of Jason Atherton’s large and “buzzy” pizzeria in Victoria’s Nova development, who go a bundle on its “unusual toppings on good quality bases” (plus pasta and some other fare). Even some supporters acknowledge that “it’s a little pricey” however, and there’s quite a significant constituency that says the experience here is “reasonable” but “wouldn’t leave you clamouring to return”.
“Fantastic sourdough pizzas-with-a-twist” are the main event at Jason Atherton’s much-heralded newcomer, and they “almost make up for the dreadful ambience of the soulless new Nova development”. Overall, its ratings are middling though, and sceptics feel that “notwithstanding the well-presented food, Hai Cenato commits the crime of just not being very interesting”. Maybe try the bar upstairs first.
