Harden's says

The original Davy’s Wine Bar, opened in 1965 by John Davy trading as a Free Vintner – a privilege granted by the Worshipful Company of Vintners; a handy place to know about near Borough Market.

“Traditional, old favourites” characterise the British cooking at this “relaxed” and very atmospheric wine bar and dining room, just south of Southwark Street and the railway arches that ultimately run over nearby Borough Market. It has a “great atmosphere and good wine list” – like so much of the 15-strong Davy’s wine bar chain, of which this was the original, opening in 1965.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
