“There’s no finer tapas outside Spain” than at José Pizarro’s “outstanding, if authentically tiny” Bermondsey bar: “very buzzy and busy, as a tapas bar should be” providing “absolute classic dishes, prepared with attention to detail and with perfect produce”. “It looks chaotic when you turn up and you have to queue outside with your wine. However the system they have works because you’re soon seated and ready to enjoy some of London’s best tapas”; “highly recommended”.
“Pretty much as good as it gets for high-end tapas, and fantastic Spanish wines” – José Pizarro’s “genius” Bermondsey original is “a rare combination of delicious food” (“new twists on classic dishes” which are “exceptional in their simplicity and quality”), “plus careful service and a joyful atmosphere”… “if you can squeeze in, it’s always impossibly busy”.
“I’d travel here from Spain for the pluma Iberica!” – José Pizarro’s original Bermondsey tapas bar “somehow has the edge over the competition” serving some of “the best tapas you will find”… “if you can get in (it’s always heaving)”.
“A bucket-list experience!” José Pizarro’s “hustling and bustling” tapas bar in Bermondsey is a “must-try!” – “fun, so long as you’re happy to perch”, and the “Barcelona-quality” dishes are “so, so good”. (“We re-located our business just so we could be next to it!”)
José Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Found by local recommendation, it proved outstanding. Sadly, we had a dinner that evening and had to be restrained but still enjoyed the freshly cooked tapas which come off a blackboard. Perhaps too much meat for my taste but that is tapas! Deserts too!"
"Unexpected find in Bermondsey. You need to go early at lunchtime as its very small. They serve tapas but also some larger dishes. The bill can add up to more than you expected but the quality was worth it."
"Splendid tapas restaurant, great food and a slick team"
