It’s “definitely worth a trip to Crouch End” to sample the “lovely Greek mezze, stews and fish dishes from a short and well-chosen menu” at Télémaque Argyriou’s two-year-old venture, where the olives and oil are sourced directly from his family’s farm in Laconia, close to Sparta. Now with spin-offs in Paris and Lille, it’s pitched as a showcase for modern (“not tourist-oriented”) Greek cuisine, with some “interesting Hellenic wines”.

“Tasty and reasonably priced plates of Mediterranean food” make this yearling from Télémaque Argyriou “a nice new addition to Crouch End”. “How rarely do you get authentic Greek cuisine in London? Mostly you find Cypriot food (OK, but not at all the same thing) or tourist stuff. This is the real Greek in a London bistro style – wonderful!”. (The ingredients are real, too – led by olives and oil from the patron’s family farm in Greece).

Summary

This 40-cover, mid-2021 newcomer in Crouch End is the work of Télémaque Argyriou, who first launched his gourmet Greek street food truck in 2015. The olives and olive oil come from his family’s 200-year old farm in Greece. At lunch there’s a simpler menu, including wraps, while the concise drinks list includes numerous vintages from small Greek producers.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
