Harden's survey result
“Drool over the pastries” and the “exquisite” salads (“so many unusual combinations and lovely flavours, it’s hard to make a decision”) at Yotam Ottolenghi’s “always popular”, but “rather stark” cafés (“overcrowded with shared tables and yummy mummies with prams”). At its best, “the food’s so fresh and creatively different, you feel you are dining on something superbly healthy”, but ratings overall slipped this year, with a number of regulars noting that “while it’s an excellent concept, execution’s not as consistent as it should be”.
“The salads on display as you enter get your gastric juices moving!” at Yotam Ottolenghi’s communal cafés, whose “enterprising” Middle Eastern dishes remain “fresh, delicious and interesting” (“cakes and desserts are not to be missed” either). If there are drawbacks, it’s “variable service”, “terrible acoustics” and the wait to be seated. Nor is it cheap, but it’s worth it (“cook books are all very well, but the prep takes hours!”).
“Zingy fresh flavours dance in the mouth”, at Yotam Ottolenghi’s “funky” communal cafés, known for their “inspired” salads and “scrumptious” cakes. “Cramped conditions” are a pain however, and while even fans “do wonder how a small meal can cost quite so much”, critics fear they risk “disappearing up their own fundaments”.
“You discover tastebuds you never knew existed!”, say fans of the “revelatory” salads and “insanely good” cakes at Yotam Ottolenghi’s “chic” (but slightly “sterile”) communal deli/cafés; “ridiculous queues” are a perennial hazard however, and a dip in ratings supports those who say “it’s suffering from its own success”.
Ottolenghi Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Still going strong the salads are just great and a nice wine list too. The wait for a sunday lunch can be a pain though."
