A third branch for Gordon Ker's popular chop-house mini-chain, this time in Old Street, in the former Rivington Grill space (RIP); it is the biggest Blacklock restaurant yet, with space for a bar (with dedicated bar snacks menu).

“Oh my! A meat-lovers’ feast awaits!” at these “carnivorous havens”, where “evidently very well-sourced produce is expertly cooked and served in great platters of meaty delight!” (“go when you are hungry!”). There are “superb-value steaks”, but it’s the “mouthwateringly scrumptious” chops that inspire more feedback. Soho and the City occupy “urban-chic” basements, whereas Shoreditch is above-ground and more “warehouse-y”. Top Menu Tip – “bargain basement prices on Butchers Block Monday, with £10 corkage if you bring your own wine!”
“Simply mouthwatering plates” of “succulent and well-seasoned chops” reward a trip to these “fun” haunts, which in September 2018 added a Shoreditch branch to initial ventures in Soho and the City. It’s a case of “simple food but done extremely well” and “if you like meat, this is a good place to share lots of it with friends, and at a very good price too”. “OK, so I was sceptical: yet another beards and tatts place, I thought – but the quality is such that I (and my meat-loving wife) discuss little else but when to go next!”
“My inner caveman loves this place!” – “Chops, crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle” provide “amazing meat and amazing value” at this “laid back and very cool”, “no frills” Soho basement, which is “a case study of picking something you’re good at and sticking with it”. In Spring 2017 it opened its second branch – a larger City outlet off Eastcheap. Top Tip – “the amount of food on the ‘All In’ has to be seen to be believed!”

"In the past we'd enjoyed two great visits to Blacklock In Soho so therefore when I heard that they were opening a branch in Shoreditch which is on the right side of London for me I couldn't wait to give it a try. Unfortunately it's been a bit longer than I thought before I could finally visit. So on a sunny August bank holiday I at last booked a table and off we went. Set in the heart of Shoreditch on Rivington Street and only a twelve minute walk from Liverpool Street station is where you'll find Blacklock. As soon as you enter there is a great buzz about the place and the aromas from the kitchen makes you just want to sit down and get started. Personally I think it's a better setting than the soho branch as for one this is on the ground level. Secondly they have the addition of a bar just on the left as you enter where you can enjoy a pre lunch / dinner drink. You then enter the dining area which is quite a large area but also seems to have a bit more space between the tables. After receiving a lovely welcome we were shown to our table along the wall on the left hand side. I started with a Summer Negroni cocktail which are ridiculously priced at only five pounds each while we looked at the menu. On a Sunday the food is basically roast dinners where you can have the choice of Beef , Lamb , Pork or the ever popular All In which is a mixture of all three meats served on a platter so you can help yourselves. We chose to have the All In so therefore knowing what was coming decided to share a starter. We ordered the Burrata on Toast topped with peas , green beans & radish which was absolutely delicious and left us ready for the main event. Now it was time to go All In. The platter arrives and is placed in the middle of the table. The meat is laid out on top of the Yorkshire Puddings with the vegetables and roast potatoes hidden underneath. We also ordered the Cauliflower Cheese which personally is a must and I don't think you can beat this one. This really is one of the best Sunday Roasts you will ever have. Now you must leave room for dessert as they make their own White Chocolate Cheesecake with Summer Berries which is absolute heaven. I finished with an Old Fashioned Cocktail which rounded of our lunch perfectly. I would highly recommend a visit hear as their roasts are amazing. I'll definitely be returning to try the food on the other menus. "
