“Steaks to die for” are the USP of the Davidson family’s operation, dedicated to the glorification of prime Scottish beef from both the Highlands and the Borders. It’s not a place to go when counting the pennies, but has maintained a long-term reputation for quality over a number of decades.
Reporters just “love it here”, whether visiting the famed steak house (“utter perfection”) or “informal” chop house (“the only thing on this planet that I will actually queue for”). Downside? “Prices seem to be related to their (celeb-magnet) reputation” rather than the “essentially simple cooking” – “however, if you stay, the value of the accommodation makes up for it”.
“In a beautiful rural setting near The House of Binns and Linlithgow Palace”, this long-established inn is known as “a good steak house” with a “very varied wine selection”, and on all accounts creates the “special experience” for which is is renowned. The prices though can seem “crazy – more than you’d pay in London!”
