Harden's says
Jersey-born chef Joe Baker's June 2023 opening in St Helier's historic Liberty Wharf building is a showcase for local produce, especially seafood cooked over a custom-built wood-fired grill. Pêtchi means 'try to catch a fish' in Jersey French, and the menu has plenty of modern Spanish influences. Joe and his wife Charlotte ran Number 10 restaurant in nearby Bond Street for seven years.
Harden's survey result
Summary
Chef-patron Joe Baker (formerly of Number 10) serves “great” Basque-inspired cuisine in the Grade II listed former harbourmaster’s building in St Helier – much of it locally caught seafood but also retired Jersey milk cows, cooked over wood on a custom-built grill. It can become “noisy”, and the main dishes strike the odd reporter as “expensive” by local standards (but the option of a high-quality nine-course feasting menu at £90 per person would be competitive on the UK mainland).
For 35 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
