Guildford's branch of the ever-expanding Ivy Brasserie brand is expected to open in April 2018.
Harden's survey result
“One has to ignore the twenty-somethings who spend their entire time selfie-ing themselves here, including in the loos”, but otherwise “the setting is excellent” at this castle-view spot, “and having been to The Ivy in London numerous times this is a pretty good knock-off”. As per others in the chain, “the food probably needs to be better, but we enjoy it and will certainly go back”. Top Tip – “afternoon tea is served in an unhurried way”.
“The usual formula, but views of the castle add to the ambience” of this spin-off from the famous London Theatreland venue. As at some others in the chain, however, reports on its comfort food cooking are up-and-down.
In a ‘roll-out’ that would do McDonald’s proud, this iconic brand has gone for it this year, opening virtually simultaneously in practically all of the UK’s top restaurant cities. The ambition is impressive: let’s hope standards hold up better than they did when, for example ‘Browns’ tried to pull off a similar trick.
The Ivy Castle View Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Nice views of the castle. Food is predictable but not memorable. "
"Highly over-rated food but obviously the place to be seen regardless"
