Harden's says
Having operated since August 2021 in Glasgow's Cathedral House building, the operation shifts in 2026 to new digs in Arthouse Glasgow. Still run by Anna and Dean Parker, the new venue will offer a refreshed Italian-influenced menu with an ingredient-led, minimal-waste approach; and a focus on fermentation methods and produce cooked over embers. The drinks menu, curated by Anna, will echo the kitchen's ethos, featuring seasonal cocktails made from kitchen 'waste'. The new space, designed by A-nrd Studio, will seat over 60 guests.
Harden's survey result
Summary
“A great Italian-inspired spot” – this popular destination is run by Dean & Anna Parker in the ground floor of a historic Baronial-style building called Cathedral House, which incorporates a mezzanine level to the traditional bar and dining room. “Amazing pappadelle in generous portions” exemplifies the “talented cooking with great ingredients”.
Summary
Wander over from Victorian burial ground the Necropolis for something far livelier: this “all-round crowd-pleaser” that shares digs with a boutique hotel inside the baronial pile that is Cathedral House. Chef Dean Parker (whose CV includes Darby’s and Sorella in the Big Smoke) and wife Anna “have got it just right” with their mix of “delicious snacks” to share plus mains to hog (not least the “most delicious pasta”), all of which is Italian-ish but with a twist “rather than the stereotypical choices” of your common trattoria. Bonus points for “truly innovative” cocktails. Top Menu Tip – “linguine with lobster and cod cheeks, followed by monkfish with wilted greens and seaweed butter; complete with an excellent affogato for dessert”.
Summary
This “buzzy” and “friendly” two-year-old, in a city-centre Scottish baronial landmark Cathedral House, is a “nice addition to Glasgow” by all accounts. It was launched by Anna Parker and chef-husband Dan (ex-of London venues Darby’s and The Dairy), who fell in love with Italian cooking on their honeymoon and have brought “a different kind of Italian” to Anna’s hometown. Expect much “sourcing locally from small suppliers”, as well as a focus on fermenting, preserving and curing.
For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
