Recommended for seafood, this fish-focused yearling from the team behind Cail Bruich opened in the West End of the city in spring 2022 to high acclaim and it receives high ratings all-round in this year’s annual diners’ poll (if not yet with a huge volume of feedback). “Waiting staff are well informed and extremely hard working” and “the ‘Taste of the Sea’ tasting menu is excellent value: very flavoursome and extremely well cooked”; you need the whole table to order it, but there is an à la carte alternative with meat options. Top Menu Tip – “kingfish carpaccio was a highlight”.

The team behind Cail Bruich opened a seafood restaurant in Hyndland in March 2022 – their fourth site overall – serving up fresh Scottish produce with Champagne and cocktails. No reports as yet in our late spring annual diners’ poll, but in The Scotsman, Gaby Soutar reviewed it as an “excellently-named” newcomer, praising its rather lovely interior, with a smallish bar downstairs and a smart mezzanine level, where you can see their coppery fish scale wall art. On-the-bone Shetland plaice was “downy and perfect, like eating oceanic candyfloss”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
