Harden's survey result
Summary
With its “fantastic location”, “very good service” and a “great simple menu cooked extremely well”, this modern beachside venture is widely recognised as one of the better places to eat on the north Wales coast. Denbigh-born chef Bryn Williams sold his London flagship Odette’s in May 2024 to ‘spend more time in Wales’ – which could benefit Porth Eirias. He is scheduled to open a new venue not far away at Theatr Clwyd in Mold next year.
Summary
“With a window seat, smart service and very reliable cooking, this is one of the better places to eat in North Wales”, is a generally agreed take on this outlet from high-profile Welsh chef Bryn WIlliams, in a modern beachside development owned by the local council. Although there’s a view that it’s “not a patch” on his more gastronomic Odette’s in London, it’s “clearly popular” and “even if the menu could be more exciting, it’s good at what it does”.
Summary
“Excellent views” are a highlight at this beachside unit, with outside tables for good weather: part of a modern development created in a spirit of regeneration by the local council. All reports applaud the “great meals” to be had here, but don’t go expecting the culinary pyrotechnics Bryn W is known for: it serves relatively simple fare (daily catch fish fingers, steak, risotto…)
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Nice view and large outdoor space over the sea. Parking... Cheese Souffle was OK but not the best we have had - dry. John Dory decent; squid starter ordinary. Baked Alaska a bit goey but still fun"
"Lovely view of bay, good parking. Bistro style not elegant but buzzy. Squid, Cheese souffle, John Dory, Baked Alaska. "
