“One of Cheltenham’s star restaurants” – this “excellent” yearling run by Chris White (ex Fat Duck) and his partner Purdey Spooner “is making a huge success of this new venue in the Minster close” with cooking that’s “very creative and beautifully presented”. Top Tip – “the set menus are great value”.
This “romantically lit” room overlooking a church makes “a fantastic addition to Cheltenham’s dining choices”. A “few bum notes” were reported – the “strange” flavour combinations bear witness to chef Christopher White’s Fat Duck heritage – but, for early days, the majority found it “generally excellent”.
The White Spoon Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Very imaginative menu, well prepared and presented. Excellent cep dumplings and fine loin of venison. All let down by a smoked salmon cheesecake that wasn't a cheesecake at all, and a banana mille feiulle that was a regular mille feuille with sliced banana on top. Would certainly been a Hardens 4 but for that. The staff showed poor knowledge of both the menu and the wine list."
