Former Great British Menu winner Michael Bremner’s “fish specialist” – a “not too expensive” all-day diner that’s more casual than his Lanes flagship 64 Degrees; it sits in a magical location under The Arches overlooking the West Pier (and is thus “best on a summer evening” when you can dine outside).

“Blessed with a sensational location” – under the arches on the seafront – Great British Menu winner Michael Bremner’s casual venue makes a “lovely” spot for “reliable food, particularly the fish”. But it is “much less adventurous than 64 Degrees” (his acclaimed Lanes flagship).

Great British Menu winner Michael Bremner’s sibling to 64 Degrees, right under The Arches on the seafront, makes a “great place to eat outside by the promenade and watch the world go by while eating delicious fish!”. Feedback this year did suggest, however, that it's been “slightly off its game very recently”, with a number of reports featuring meals that were “a bit of a mixed bag”.

“Within a hop, skip and jump of the i360”, but with a “great setting right on the seafront” (and al fresco seating), this “casual, laidback” venture turns out “excellent seasonal produce” (predominantly fish) from a “small but perfectly formed menu”. Owner “Michael Bremner deserves to be as successful with Murmur as he has been with 64 Degrees”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
