Harden's survey result
Since a change of team, this remote coaching inn “has raised its game” winning only positive feedback this year for its “innovative menu with local ingredients”: fans say it’s “back to Michelin star standards”.
With a change of regime, and new chef Gary Jarvis (ex-The Barn at Coworth Park) at the helm, this art-lined, remote coaching inn seems to be “back on track”. Some reports are still critical, but more often it’s credited with turning out “imaginative” food that’s “worth paying a little more for”.
Polarised reports this year on this old coaching inn, set in the middle of nowhere. To fans it’s a worthy winner of the Sussex Food and Drink Awards, but to a worrying number of critics it’s “resting on its laurels” (“I so wanted to like it, but everything was disappointing”). Some kind of resolution may be afoot, however – the business was put up for sale in autumn 2016.
