Summary
“One of the best in Bath” (that “tourist city largely dominated by chains”), founded in 2016 by Chris Tabbitt, whose CV includes stints at London’s Bibendum and the Old Bridge hotel in Huntingdon, where he met his FOH wife Sarah Olivier. It “seems quite European in the interior” (down to being “fairly cramped”), but that only befits its “excellent French-inspired” bistro cooking, which is offered for a “reasonable” price.
Summary
Launched in 2016 by Chris Tabbitt (ex-of Bibendum and the Old Bridge hotel in Huntingdon) and Sarah Olivier, this “small and beautifully formed” modern European is a “very comfortable, dependable” sort of place indeed. From the “perfectly executed”, “very well-priced” food (e.g., steak-frites, washed down with “even better value” red wine), to the “very personable service”, it offers an “intimate dining experience” that’s “hard to beat”.
Summary
“Very enjoyable French food in a convivial atmosphere” ensures the continued high success of Chris Tabbitt (ex-of London haunt Bibendum) and Sarah Olivier’s modern European, est. 2016 and named after their first child. It’s a “comfortable and not showy” sort of place with “casual” service, where no one doubts the “very proficient” cooking (“not cheap, but definitely felt good value for the overall meal”).
Summary
A “lovely” spot for a “nice, well-presented family meal” in Bath, this six-year-old from chef Chris Tabbitt (who trained at Simon Hopkinson’s Bibendum) and Sarah Olivier has built a solid following for its “very proficient” modern European menus.
For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Chez Dominique Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Nice family owned business in the heart if Bath a stones throw from Pultney Bridge, it's not a tourist trap like many restaurants in the area but a good traditional french menu. Not too pricey and everything is well cooked and tasty. No wow factor but That's not the reason to go, a good steak frites and a bottle of good value red makes for a very pleasant evening. The staff are nice and friendly too."
"French bistro cooking of a high standard using carefully sourced ingredients. I was particularly impressed by perfect young asparagus and prime mussels. Cosy restaurant in a Georgian Bath townhouse close to famous Pulteney Bridge. In a city dominated by the usual chains, this chef proprietor restaurant stands out."
"Good French bistro food in centre of Bath. Fish often excellent. Good range of choices on fixed price menu. "
"Excellent French inspired, chef owned, bistro. The cooking is first class. Fairly cramped restaurant near the famous Pulteney Bridge. The fixed price lunch is reasonable value. House wines are good and the service both friendly and efficient. A very good choice in this tourist city largely dominated by the chains."
