Summary
A “perfect little Italian restaurant with a fantastic buzz” serving “outstanding authentic pasta dishes – no frills, just great food” – accompanied by “jugs of good inexpensive wine”. It’s “great fun”, but you “need to book ahead” – or trek into Manchester, to the larger offshoot in Ancoats.
Summary
“A real asset to Altrincham”, near the market, serving “authentic pasta dishes” with a Puglian slant (plus wines by the carafe) “in a canteen environment”. (In 2018 they launched a spin-off, in Ancoats, that’s double the size and while “both branches are great, the original just has the edge”.) “Some of the dishes, especially the strozzapreti, are just to die for”.
Summary
“Home-style Italian dishes that are plentiful and utterly delicious” (“they regularly change the menu”) have carved a major name for this small, family-run venture near Altrincham Market, which also benefits from its “chatty and informed served”. “They have not got too big and arrogant – even though they have expanded to two sites now they have kept the quality, and I know as it’s two minutes from my house!”

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"always excellent. so consistent. prices fair and good portions. busy on a weds night."

"Consistently excellent pasta restaurant "

"possibly being a little harsh on my scores above. mussels were outstandingly good. leek and bortaga sauce. well cooked. very fine flavour balance. subtle and moreish. shared a large plate amongst is and ate the lot.. mains were all very good. subtle variations between sugo, cod special and another tomato beef pepper based sauce. but if I was being picky they were all based on tomato and chilli. yes they got good differences between them and they were all well balanced and cooked. but it felt like potential variety and differences weren't there. did we drive this through our ordering choices? the variety in bancones dishes and pared back flavours and combinations has made me consider what can be done.. that said we all enjoyed mightily and it remains a firm favourite. and you'd happily eat their menu time and again. service remains friendly and professional. place was busy but not so crazy busy. I'd go as far as to say a bit quiet for a Thursday, but then so was the market house and restaurants in Hale. sign of times but they had more than their fair share of custom which must be a good sign!"
