The City Barge docks in Chiswick

Just in time for summer, this 14th century Thames-side Chiswick boozer reopens tomorrow (24 May), after an extensive refurb. The City Barge wants to be ‘the ultimate Thames-side pub’ – with a reclaimed Victorian bar, open fires, examples of rare bird taxidermy, private dining room and outside seating by the water, it may just pull it off.

Head chef, Pat Lynch has quite a pedigree – he was formerly of Bentley’s and Scotts – and he will serve up a lunch and dinner menu of pub classics, and breakfast and brunch at weekends.

The outside space seats 50 and will host a series of pop-up bars and seafood stalls over the summer.
