This comfortable old inn between Southwold and Aldeburgh has generated all-round enthusiasm since joining East Anglia’s Chestnut Group a couple of years ago: the food is well rated and “friendly staff make a meal here a real pleasure”.
This dog-friendly 12th century inn, with pleasant patio seating and log fires, was taken over by the East-Anglian Chestnut Group, which is expanding its reach to the coast, in mid-2018; rooms are a mite “cluttered”, but it makes for a “lovely weekend away with good cooking and friendly staff”.
An old coaching inn turned smart hotel, bar and restaurant, the latter in a large rear conservatory; “each space has its own individual character” (the bar is “more informal”…“you can bring your dogs and have them made a fuss of”) but both serve the same “lovely” menu.
In “the heart of the charming village of Westleton, the Crown has a vibrant menu and lovely old rooms” – plus, for dining, “a large conservatory tacked on to the back”. Aside from some gripes about “over-ambitious dishes” and “toppish prices”, fans say that “everything about the place is good”, even if “the beige-trouser-brigade do tend to take over a bit!”
