“For a restaurant this far inland, the fish is truly amazing” (“cooked interestingly but simply enough to retain the delicate flavours”) at Adam Fellows’s classic French all-day venture – though you’ll also find game on the menu.

“For a restaurant this far inland”, Adam Fellows’s “quirky”, intimate modern European turns out some “truly amazing” fish, and “friendly staff make the experience even better”; sample praise – “you could be in any simple brasserie in a French town”.

"One of my favourites outside London. A small but excellent menu served with friendly efficiency. Wine list includes decent half-bottles - unusual but very pleasing. The lunchtime deals are excellent value. "
