Summary
Quaint, old-fashioned decor lends a “special” atmosphere to this “small neighbourhood restaurant” in St Margaret’s. It’s resolutely French in style, providing “good portions of excellent food” from a traditional menu, whose top features are a Plat de Fruits de Mer and 28-day aged Châteaubriand, both for £80. Be warned, though, “it gets extremely busy around rugby matches at Twickenham”.
Summary
For a quality meal out St Margaret’s way, this conventional French restaurant – set in agreeably old-fashioned Victorian premises – provides a traditional and enjoyable experience that’s consistently well-rated in our annual diners’ poll. Top Tip – good-value ‘menu du jour’ available at lunch and at dinner early in the week.
Summary
A “classy” option deep in the ’burbs – chef-patron Gianluca di Monaco’s (who worked under retired über-chef, Pierre Koffmann, for a time) “lovely little French spot” occupies a cute, if “understated” St Margaret’s site long associated with gastronomy. For the odd sceptic, “sticking so strictly to the script of Gallic classics can seem a bit stifling in 2022”, but for most customers that’s exactly what makes it “a memorable place to visit”.
Summary
This cute and characterful independent bistro offers a “lovely neighbourhood dining experience” in suburban St Margaret’s, with “very good cooking and presentation” from chef-patron Gianluca di Monaco, who learned his trade under Pierre Koffmann, doyen of French chefs in London. A favoured pit-stop before the rugby at nearby Twickenham – or to celebrate afterwards. Top Tip: “Chateaubriand to die for!”
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Le Salon Privé Restaurant Diner Reviews
"For a change there were a few tables occupied. Missed having a starter but my chateaubriand was superb and more than made up for it. Finished off with a creme brulee which was very good. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit here and will definitely looked forward to another visit."
