“A1 food on the A30!” has won a loyal following for this “excellent” South-African-run French restaurant: an auberge-style venue with a penchant for rustic Gascon cuisine, which has just celebrated its 15th anniversary. “The food is well worth a long journey, and the wine list is exceptional”.
“This South African-run former pub produces first-rate French cuisine” – somewhat surprisingly, especially adding in the setting right on the A30. The “lovely” dishes tend towards the rustic (as does the appealing auberge-esque room) and service is “superb”.
In an out-of-the-way location, this former pub is now a “very characterful – and very French – restaurant” (run, somewhat unexpectedly, by a South African); all reports acclaim “classic cooking (in the best sense) with the flavours of good local ingredients shining through”.
“In farmhouse-type surroundings” – and “in the middle of nowhere” – this former pub, now under a South African owner, wins raves for its “astoundingly good” French cuisine (“slightly weird” as the concept may be)!
