Harden's survey result
“Very good food” allied to “friendly and efficient service” wins considerable praise this year for chef-owner Nick Gillespie’s accomplished venue. It’s a rustic, brick-lined space with bare wooden tables in a rather offbeat location, close to the M1-A52 junction, but a “special occasion go-to” for its fans.
“Consistently impressive” cooking “served by attentive and knowledgeable staff” has garnered uniformly high ratings this year for this “high-quality” outfit just off the M1. It’s “excellent value” too, especially when you take into consideration extras such as the “superb amuse bouche”.
The location strikes some as “strange” – “near a canal in a small unassuming town between Nottingham and Derby” – but this “first-class” venture pleases (nearly) all reviewers with its “imaginative, tasty British cooking” and “excellent service”: “expensive but good value for money”.
A “small, stylish restaurant” tucked away on a side street, whose notably “adventurous menu” and “professional feel” make a big impression on many local reporters, who say that “prices are high, but worth it!”
