Sibling to the popular Empire Room at the Royal Harbour Hotel (the team of hotelier James Thomas and chef Craig Mather), this all-day, informal space (with harbour views) pays homage to the Dunkirk evacuation, and has even been decorated in the colours of the Dunkirk Veterans' Association. Thanks to the new Harrison charcoal-fuelled free-standing oven, roasted local fish and meats are the order of the day.
Harden's survey result
“Chef Craig Mather revels in the abundance of local, seasonal produce” and “the locally built Harrison charcoal-fuelled oven works its magic on meats, veg and fish” at this “great addition to the harbour front” (est. June 2018 together with hotelier James Thomas, also of Ramsgate’s Empire Room). The name – and décor – nod to the flotilla of private boats that evacuated troops from Dunkirk.
Little Ships Restaurant Diner Reviews
"OK, so it was during the hubbub of ‘helping out’, but service described as ‘poor’ is actually paying them an undue complement. It was truly dire!! Soooo slooow I thought I’d still be there at breakfast time! Enough waiting staff - so serious problem in the kitchen! "
