MasterChef: The Professionals winner “Jamie Scott is one of the UK’s finest unsung chefs” (setting aside that 2014 honour), say fans of the restaurant-with-rooms he launched with wife Kelly in 2016; “the wonderful food together with the young, local but knowledgeable serving team” make for a winning combination and “a window seat looking over the Tay estuary is a bonus” (indeed, the room has “some of the best-ever views”).

“Jamie Scott is a genius! – He and his team produce remarkable combinations of flavour and inventive dishes” at his modern restaurant-with-rooms, “with great views across the Tay to Dundee”, which he opened with his wife Kelly in 2016, two years after winning MasterChef: The Professionals. “Having dined in many Michelin-starred restaurants, The Newport is still my favourite”.

Having grown up in neighbouring Angus, Jamie Scott has brought his considerable talents to Fife, where he runs this relaxed, contemporary inn serving up “excellent”, locally sourced food “plus a view!”, via panoramic windows looking out across the Tay to Dundee’s V&A.

Jamie Scott’s award-winning “low-key” inn enjoys a “wonderful” view across the Tay to the V&A in Dundee; and its level of cuisine is “first-class with a strong emphasis on local produce”. Menu options range from an à la carte to a six-course tasting menu: the latter is the only choice available on Friday and Saturday evenings.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
