Newcastle's bustling Quayside is the location for a new restaurant from the team behind Staith House in North Shields; the 'Bistro Moderne' style will have a wine-led approach.
Harden's survey result
MasterChef: The Professionals finalist John Calton’s follow-up to hit North Shields gastropub Staith House took over this former Burger Stop, in central Newcastle’s finest medieval street, The Side, in May 2018. Early reports on the “casual” small plates spot are stellar, with “fantastic” dishes featuring “combinations not seen elsewhere” hereabouts.
Route Restaurant Diner Reviews
"This is a good small place. warm and friendly on wet Newcastle night. Food not quite as good as expected. Perhaps because they were having to budget on ingredients for the fantastic value set meal. Wine list excellent. I’d return and go for a la Carte and reduce wine spend!"
"Great casual atmosphere, small place with a good vibe. Food is a selection of tasting experiences all done with great detail with the emphasis on taste but also great presentation. Had an exceptional Halibut dish from the specials board but every morsel we had was memorable. Can’t recommend more highly. I’ll be back definitely."
"Lunch on a weekend. Choice of 3 course fixed or a la carte tapas type menu. Good quality ingredients Cooked very well in a pleasant setting. Interesting wine list."
