For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"As you hadn’t had any reviews I thought I would go New venue needing checking out There was a serious variety of reviews, found out today that it’s only been open 8 weeks! It’s utterly disingenuous to castigate it just after it opens! Arrived and parked in the good sized car park and went in, passing through the nice and already busy garden at 12. Indoors, you can see it’s undergone a substantial quality refurbishment and it looks great. The menu is well laid out, plenty of choice. I selected the smoked eel to start off, it was beautifully presented and great flavouring with a subtle dressing. Main was a beef Sunday roast, the beef was good quality and apart from slightly too much fat on one piece. The trimmings were delicious and the beef was cooked (rare) to perfection. Dessert, I was conflicted as the only one I DIDN’T want was the cheese platter. My dessert was a poached rhubarb and strawberry dessert with mint vanilla and fried custard in crumbs. It was frankly delicious! Staff were efficient and friendly (one nice staff member was very kind and accidentally missed the main off my bill, so I went to the manager to reinstate it, as £14 was a tad too cheap! The actual price was very good value for what I ate Irrespective of the reviews it has attracted on some sites by intolerant people not giving it a chance to get settled, I was very impressed and it was well worth the hours drive. Ps toilets clean and well presented Well done all."
