Every dish is “somewhere between good and very good” at the Spinningfields link in an eight-strong national chain that “remains competitive with the other top-end Manchester tapas joints”.
This vivid Spinningfields spin-off of the hit national chain continues to garner mixed feedback, not least because Manchester has a fiesta of Spanish competitors; but, despite the odd criticism of food and service (less since portions grew), there continue to be fans, for whom the oft-changing menu is “always excellent”.
“Manchester is spoilt with good Spanish restaurants” of late, with this “vibrant” two-year-old – a spin-off from the expanding national chain – a notable addition to the party. Both food and service have a “curate’s egg” quality to them, but the “more inventive” fare is generally a hit, and seems “heartier than when it first opened (presumably in reaction to Mancs moaning they had to stop for chips on the way home”).
“A great lavish interior (if you can forgive the dodgy bull’s head)” sets the scene at this year-old northern outpost of the London-based modern tapas chain, and it’s a “lively” hang out. Feedback is mixed however – some of the criticism is sharp (“waste of time…”; “very let down…”; “lost its way…”), but fans hail its “great quality” (“I was a bit sniffy as it’s a chain, but they proved me very wrong!)”
