Harden's says

One of Manchester’s most hotly anticipated newcomers of recent years, this restaurant pays homage to Catalan cuisine with multi-Michelin star chef Paco Perez (of Miramar, in Llançà, Girona) overseeing the (casual) food offering. It is backed by the deep pockets of Man City boss Pep Guardiola, CEO Ferran Soriano and the Fazenda Group.

Multi-Michelin-starred Barcelona chef Paco Pérez was the marquee signing for Pep Guardiola, Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano, the trio behind Manchester City’s success, when they launched their upscale Catalan restaurant three years ago. The cool interiors – industrial chic for communal eating on the ground floor, minimalist glamour upstairs – are designed to throw a focus on the food, served as ‘tastets’ (small plates with more complexity than tapas). The verdict? definitely Premier League (in both quality and prices), if not yet a Champions League winner.

“A fantastic addition to Manchester’s burgeoning Spanish scene” – chef Paco Perez opened this Catalonian yearling with a bit of help from Pep Guardiola and other Man City grandees. “It’s a few doors down from El Gato Negro and must be giving it a run for its money, although it could certainly be argued that they’re so different in both style and food that, apart from both being restaurants, they’re hardly direct competitors”. Reports mostly are enthusiastic about its “modern and flavoursome” Catalan small plates (‘Tastets’ – ‘more complex than tapas but smaller than a plate’), but also note that they’re “not cheap”. There’s also an “interesting, if surprisingly brief Catalan wine list, with prices that accelerate nearly as fast as a Manchester City player’s Lamborghini!”

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Some of the nicest tapas I have ever had. The octopus dish was exceptional and good value too. Staff were very cheerful and attentive and really looked after us. "
