What was formerly Clive Davis’ local staple (and FKA Green Café), is now “under new ownership (CSons – Shrewsbury)”, aka four brothers with deep roots in the Ludlow scene. Fans “didn’t think it could be any better, but it is”, with an “extended menu including breakfast” and, of late, Fri/Sat dinners. In particular “it’s a fabulous spot for al fresco breakfast or lunch overlooking the River Teme”.

Summary

Clive Davis’s “secret gem” by the River Teme is “just fabulous” on a sunny day, and the “beautiful setting is coupled with exquisite cuisine” – both “good coffee and cakes”, and more substantial fare. “Services comes with a personal touch: they’ve even been known to provide hot water bottles” for chilly days!

“I’ve simply never not loved any dish served here in all the years I’ve been going!” With a “superb location looking across the River Teme”, chef Clive Davis’s “wonderful” café (“sit outside and watch the kids fishing”) offers “simple and uncomplicated” food, whose “deftness and assurance means it’s always brilliant” (and “at these affordable prices, you can afford to spend extra petrol to get there”). “I had foie gras the night before at a Michelin-starred joint and it was good. The next day I had Clive Davis’s chicken liver paté for lunch, and it was ridiculously 10 times better!”

Summary

“It’s only a café”, but this uncomplicated spot delivers “gorgeous food, in a gorgeous riverside setting”. Chef Clive Davis has the culinary equivalent of “perfect pitch”, and his “simple” fare from a “short, spot-on menu” is “cooked and seasoned to a tee”. A catch? – “on a busy day (every day nowadays!) you may feel a bit cheek-by-jowl”.
