Harden's says

Carl Clarke secures a second site for his “fun and buzzy” Dalston fried chicken specialist Chick ‘n’ Sours; the new Seven Dials venue opens mid-September serving fried chicken alongside the restaurant's trademark sour cocktails - an “excellent combo”, so say our reporters.

“So good – I’m still daydreaming about it”, say fans of “the most delicious fried chicken burgers” served up alongside sour cocktails and local beers at this former pop-up with branches in Haggerston and Covent Garden, and an evening-only take-away outlet in Whitechapel (Fri/Sat/Sun). Top Menu Tip – “best is the K-Pop burger with spicy Korean-style coleslaw. Yom!”

“I’m completely addicted to the unique blend of fried chicken with a range of light and fresh, or even rich and unctious, Asian flavours!” say fans of these pit stops in Haggerston and Covent Garden. “Takeaways were a revelation during lockdown – the delicious chicken burgers travel pretty well”. A third branch in Spitalfields was still ‘temporarily closed’ due to Covid-19 in September 2021.

“Massive flavours, great vibe” and the “best chicken wings tasted in a long time” (#nextlevel) add up to “heaven in a chintzy, porcelain bowl”, say fans of this “great value” concept based in Haggerston, now with branches in Covent Garden and Islington. “It’s not just about the chicken – yes, it’s mega-crispy and yes, it’s super-juicy, but what sets Chick ‘n’ Sours apart are the garnishes, sides and sauces” – many of them Asian-inspired, such as “the yummy, smashed, spicy, peanuty, cucumber side”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
