Harden's survey result
Summary
This Bloomsbury chippy with “very high standards” has been run by the Beauchamp family for 45 years, and is listed on the ‘Knowledge’ test required to be a London black cab driver. Ten varieties of fresh fish are delivered every morning, and there’s a good choice of traditional English puddings. “The ambience is a bit dated and it can be a tourist trap – but on a Friday lunchtime you can’t beat this place”.
Summary
“The real deal!” This “popular” Bloomsbury chippy – “run by the same family for more than 40 years” – is one of the best in town, certainly of those within striking distance of the West End. “The choice is always good, and simply grilled is a fantastic option”, or fried in matzo meal; and you can round off with “excellent English puddings and custard”. It’s a good idea to book.

Summary
A “great institution” – this “very traditional” family-run Bloomsbury chippy is one of the best around the West End, and a safe bet for “good fresh fish, grilled or battered, with proper crisp chips”. “You don’t come here for the ambience” – it’s “had a facelift” but “never really changes… thank goodness!”.
For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

North Sea Fish Restaurant Diner Reviews

"Popular spot for fish and chips and other fish dishes. The fish was not too exciting, chips not very tasty, mushy peas disappointing, and the sauce tartare had a horseradish tasting…not to everyone‘s liking."

"Very good fish and chips in sizeable portions. Excellent variety. Swift, friendly service. Handy for hotels on Euston Road and the main line railway stations."
