Harden's survey result
For 25 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. This year diners have submitted over 60,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK.
“One of London’s better chippies” – this “traditional family-run” outfit in Bloomsbury remains hugely popular thanks to its big variety of “very fresh, totally reliable fish” (all deep-fried) in “large portions”. It has “generally freshened itself up since the new generation took the reins”, bringing a “slightly smarter ambience and decor”.
“Excellent fish, and particularly good chips” are the hallmarks of this “grand little chippie” in Bloomsbury (“with old-fashioned home-made puds if you have the stamina”). Once “so dated it was almost charming”, regulars are now split over whether the recent refurb has “smartened it up” or “lost some of its former character”.
“Some of the customers may look on their last legs, but for fine fish ’n’ chips at fair prices” seek out this old-fashioned Bloomsbury chippy, whose “faded ’70s décor has its own character”.
“The fish is as fresh as the decor is tired”, at this “old-fashioned-plush” Bloomsbury chippy; who cares if it sometimes feels “like an OAP daycare centre”?
