Harden's survey result
Summary
We’re hoping against hope that this age-old Indian stalwart, tucked away near Notting Hill, reopens post-pandemic (it’s still ‘temporarily closed’ as of September 2021, although its website says: ‘we hope to reopen’). Still decorated like the Italian premises it inherited over 30 years ago, it pioneered a new look for sub-continental restaurants, its menu was consistently excellent and few eateries of any type can match its performance over the decades.
Summary
This “high-quality” Indian has fed happy Notting Hill diners “with some style and on metal platters” for more than 30 years, and – having taken over the premises of an Italian trattoria back in the day – has always had a contemporary look. The odd regular says “is it me, or has this old favourite gotten a bit tired?”, but perhaps that’s more a comment on how outstanding it once was, as its overall feedback is pretty solid.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
