Harden's survey result
Summary
“Maybe not some upscale fancy restaurant but one of the best Indians on the central-west side of London: no wonder they have been in business for 70 years!” – this veteran family-run tandoori in Bayswater has served generations with “Indian food that’s cheap ’n’ cheerful but good nonetheless” (“from the tandoori chicken to the breads”). The BYO policy makes it even better value than the prices on the menu suggest (“and the Sainsbury’s on Westbourne Grove, 50 yards away, stocks Cobra”).
Summary
This “brilliant local curry house” off Westbourne Grove has “been there forever (since 1956, in fact) for good reason” – “we’ve been going for over 40 years and it’s always delicious and great value” and there’s “always a friendly welcome”. Top Tip – “it no longer has an alcohol licence and is now BYOB, so is even better value”.
Summary
“The epitome of the local curry house”, this “cosy” 65-year-old family-run tandoori off Westbourne Grove – one of London’s oldest – serves “classic fare” that’s “always delicious”.
For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
