Harden's survey result
“Everything you could want from a pub” is to be found at this “quasi-rustic”, panelled tavern, hidden away in a backstreet on the Chiswick/Acton borders: “unexpectedly sophisticated food” (“from a Mediterranean/Italian menu that delivers the classics as well as seasonal-inspired dishes”), “seamless, jolly yet gentle service”, “terrific beer, wine and gin… and you get hydrangeas in the kid-friendly garden!”
Fans hail “the best pub garden in London” (“loads of tables set amongst leafy trees”) at this hidden-away Chiswick-fringe gastropub, but its panelled, cosy interior is lovely too. “Charming” staff and “consistently delicious, keenly priced” food make it an impressive all-rounder.
“A tucked-away location between Chiswick and Acton” lends a “rustic” atmosphere to this “hidden gem” of a pub, with “surprisingly sophisticated” food, plus “a good wine list, and changing list of cask beers”. “It’s a pub for all seasons: in the cool/freezing months, with wood panelling, open fires, and sofas… in the summer, the enormous garden and the mature trees make you feel like you’re 100 miles from London”.
“Strangely rustic in feel for somewhere in deepest Chiswick” – this tucked-away hostelry is “one of the best in West London”; the cooking is “surprisingly interesting and sophisticated”, the service is a veritable “charm offensive”, and the set-up works well both in winter (wood panels, fire, sofas) and summer (“luscious beer garden”).
The Swan Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Seems to have gone downhill. Beautiful fish was served bathed in oil on the solid base and just carried on cooking and sticking to the base. Tapas were out of the freezer and just about warmed up. Overall very disappointing "
