“Rustic yet accomplished” sums up the appeal of this “reliable local” on the Acton-Chiswick border – and refers to both its “stylish pub food with an Italian twist” and to its “lovely garden”. “Love the honest food, good service and great ambience” – the Art Deco green tiles and wood panelling are further distinguishing features.

“Everything you could want from a pub” is to be found at this “quasi-rustic”, panelled tavern, hidden away in a backstreet on the Chiswick/Acton borders: “unexpectedly sophisticated food” (“from a Mediterranean/Italian menu that delivers the classics as well as seasonal-inspired dishes”), “seamless, jolly yet gentle service”, “terrific beer, wine and gin… and you get hydrangeas in the kid-friendly garden!”

For 31 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Very much enjoyed our early dinner starting with well seasoned pork & chicken terrine folowed by robust duck confit with roasted pear and fennel accompaniment and gratin dauphinoise. Atmosheric and well-grounded gastropub."
