“Avoiding a typical pub-forgettable menu” – this Victorian tavern on a prominent corner overlooking Acton Green Common “offers a tapas selection of real quality and a lovely interior to boot”. That’s it on a good day, though – it’s not consistent and some “unexceptional” results dragged on the rating a little this year. You can eat anywhere in the pub, although the grand dining room at the rear is the most comfy location, and “the garden is very pleasant on a fine day”.

A “great stalwart for years” – this spacious Victorian tavern by Acton Green Common is a “good local” with the unexpected feature of a “Spanish-inspired” selection of tapas and other dishes, alongside more standard British roasts on a Sunday. Look out for the charming rear dining room, with small garden.

A classic Victorian tavern by Acton Green Common with “lovely pub food you can rely on” from a Spanish tapas-style menu, served in a “beautiful dining room” at the rear, leading out to a small garden. As a bonus for local families, it’s notably “good with kids”.

“A very traditional pub”, prominently situated on a corner by Acton Green Common, with a fine old bar, attractive, airy rear dining room and “lovely patio garden, ideal for the summer”. Its gastropub cooking includes a number of less usual “Spanish tapas-style plates”. While the food can be “tasty and well-presented”, ratings suggest it somewhat undershoots its potential.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
