A “stunning dining room” – stylishly decked out in an elegant, traditional fashion – helps inspire good vibes for this recently opened, “understated-but-great” hotel (launched in spring 2022), just around the corner from the former American Embassy in Mayfair. Chef Alan Christie aims for a ‘Mediterranean flourish to modern British fare’: the result is “a cute menu that’s expertly cooked”. “Prices are steep but locally acceptable!”

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Mayfair prices but surpasses Mayfair quality. Went for a Sunday roast & was simply 10/10 on all levels. Great choice of butcher as the meat was as good as I've had at starred restaurants & the execution of the potatoes and other vegetables was flawless. I wish I could afford to eat here on a regular basis but for a real treat I have been recommending to all that will listen!"

Food was pretty good but priced accordingly...
Reviewed 8 months,

"Food was pretty good but priced accordingly whereas the wine-list is set at inaccessible prices for the majority. Clearly there were regulars here that were happy to pay £100 to feed a ‘toddler’ - non-drinkers though ! The music, presumably piped from the club below, was hardly music to eat to nor was it music to talk to as the volume was way to high. Good points? The cocktails are pretty good but not cheap. The service was obsequious at points, pushy at times and a little ‘random’ as different members of staff repeated questions. Busy with those who feel that they are proving a point by paying the price asked and a bit short on, that hard to define factor, class."
