“Great falafel burger and brilliant as a quick pit stop” – Eyal Shani’s vision for his Tel Aviv-based international chain is ‘to take the flavour, the energy, the groove, the unique beauty of each city and translate it into a ridiculously fluffy pita’. Judging by reports, his Soho and Notting Hill operations fulfill the mission, but you don’t have to have your flatbread stuffed with native fish ’n’ chips (although you can) – maybe minute steak with tahini and tomato salsa?

“A fast, fun and casual concept, with delicious, tasty Israeli food” – Eyal Shani’s outlets in Soho and Notting Hill are part of his international chain based out of Tel Aviv and serve a huge array of “top pitas” with most conceivable kinds of filling (including fish ’n’ chips!) washed down with a fair drinks selection. Book for dinner, but walk-in only at lunch.

“Get a pitta the action!” say fans of these “fast, fun, loud and daft” outlets in Soho and now also Notting Hill – part of Eyal Shani’s international chain, based out of Tel Aviv. Flatbreads filled with falafel, burgers, English breakfast – you name it – exemplify the “playful” Middle Eastern menu, which everyone agrees is a “great concept” (“different and certainly worth experiencing for its unique take on pitta fillings”). But dishes that are “well-priced, fresh and tasty” in most accounts can – to a few critics – seem “bland and sloppily served”. Top Menu Tip – “outstanding roasted cauliflower”.

For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
