“An amazing place for steaks and spider crab… but, my god, is it expensive!” Nothing changes at Goodman group’s candle-lit, surf ’n’ turf extravaganza, just off Oxford Street, which bills itself as ‘a unique gastronomic experience featuring Norwegian King Crab and hand-selected, dry-aged Nebraskan Angus beef. But, after five years in operation, what’s actually most striking is how little feedback we receive nowadays…

Most reporters are left speechless by the stratospheric prices at this candle-lit surf ’n’ turf experience off Oxford Street (part of the Goodman group), where huge portions of Norwegian king crab, Canadian lobster and Nebraskan beef are the building blocks of the small menu.

“Ludicrous pricing” (“so crazy I struggle to find the adjectives”) is the unanimous verdict on this dramatic-looking, candle-lit, Goodman-owned, steak-and-crab experience off Oxford Street – even from reporters who applaud the “great fun and good food”. “I’ve never been so outraged as when I found out our Norwegian king crab starter for six was £470!! Bonkers!… Daylight robbery!…”.

“Huge” portions of high-quality surf ’n’ turf – served in “the most dramatic setting” of candlelit communal tables – is the bold proposition of this Goodman-owned two-year-old off Oxford Street. But even if “the food is excellent, prices are way OTT”, and very “hard to justify”. And it’s not a place for an “intimate date” – more of an “expensive team night out” if you’ve got a boss with deep pockets.
