Summary
“You need deep pockets” to have a good time at this luxurious, rather conventional-looking American-style grill near the old US Embassy in Mayfair, from Richard Caring’s Caprice group – but those who do say it “never disappoints”… “couldn’t have asked for more (apart from a smaller bill!!)”
Summary
This lavish take on an American grill from Richard Caring’s Caprice group, near the former US Embassy in Mayfair, excelled this year with its “well-prepared food”, “extensive wines list” and “superb service”. The only real complaint? It can seem “just ridiculously expensive”. But this complaint was less in evidence this year.
Summary
This swish New York-style grill, appropriately round the corner from the ex-US Embassy in Mayfair, has a lower profile than its siblings in Richard Caring’s stable, remaining “so under the radar” for almost a decade. The “safe and easy menu” is “a little uninspiring and expensive, which is unsurprising given the location”, but its “unobtrusively attentive service” helps make it a “dependable” all-rounder.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Well that was a treat. Couldn't have asked for more (apart from a smaller bill !!). From the moment we entered the restaurant we knew 'this is going to be good'. We were not disappointed. A busy vibrant place, very attentive, knowledgeable staff. (Ana who looked after us was excellent.. made sure everything was "as it should be"). The wine list (book really) has everything on it.... endless and if you want to be extravagant very expensive. We settled on a red Burgundy... wonderful.. Food... prawn cocktails to start with very large peeled prawns, (that Rose Marie sauce is very special), then one surf and turf the other rump of lamb. Beautifully cooked and presented. Even managed to squeeze in the cheese platter and a glass of port. You need deep pockets."
