This “very professional”, American-style grill near the former US Embassy in Mayfair is unusually restrained and low-profile for a Richard Caring venue. It does have its cheerleaders, who think it provides an all-round “wonderful” experience. Others, though, find it hard to look beyond the final price tag (“little is much above average except the horrendous prices!”).

Richard Caring’s American-style grill near the former US Embassy in Mayfair wins praise as “an all-rounder, with a menu to suit all tastes”; and as “a busy, vibrant place with attentive and knowledgeable staff”. “The wine list (book really) is endless and if you want to be extravagant, very expensive”… in keeping with the general approach.

“You need deep pockets” to have a good time at this luxurious, rather conventional-looking American-style grill near the old US Embassy in Mayfair, from Richard Caring’s Caprice group – but those who do say it “never disappoints”“couldn’t have asked for more (apart from a smaller bill!!)”

This lavish take on an American grill from Richard Caring’s Caprice group, near the former US Embassy in Mayfair, excelled this year with its “well-prepared food”, “extensive wines list” and “superb service”. The only real complaint? It can seem “just ridiculously expensive”. But this complaint was less in evidence this year.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
